[SIHANOUKVILLE, CAMBODIA – Jan 13, 2023] Cambodia-based real estate development company Canopy Sands Development has donated USD 10,000 and 2,000 roofing materials – enough for at least 30 houses, in response to an appeal from provincial authorities in Sihanoukville following a recent storm that left widespread damage in its path across Preah Sihanouk that left thousands homeless.

H.E. Kuoch Chamroeun, governor of Sihanouk Province at the Cambodian Red Cross Sihanouk branch office, accepted Canopy Sands Development’s donations and appreciated the company’s good deeds.

The Cambodian province of Sihanoukville had earlier on called on businesses and individuals to come forward and donate to help ease the burden on victims affected by the storm.

“We had several conversations with the provincial office to understand their specific needs before putting together the donation package. We hope our contribution will help these people rebuild their lives after this devastating event,” said Ian Tan, Managing Director of Canopy Sands.

Canopy Sands is currently working on its 934-ha BAY OF LIGHTS project that recently broke ground and is being hailed as marking a new renaissance for Sihanoukville as the developer builds a bustling coastal city closely resembling the elite cities of neighboring regions.

Some of the project’s hospitality and tourism components are set to take shape this year, including an international-standard beach club, 60 lavish yet affordable cabin lodges, a reverse bungee jump at a thrilling height of 32 meters, and an international-standard 1.3km go-kart track.
