Eminent kite flyers from across the world, as well as renowned singers and artists, have descended in Sihanoukville for the international kite flying festival in the country to take part in Skyfest.

Apart from Cambodia, kite flyers representing China, France, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam participated in the event.

Over 10,000 kite-flying fans from across the world are expected to attend the event, which is first of its kind in the Kingdom.

Speaking at the inaugural event, Ly Thuch praised the Prince Holding Group for organising the event, which reflected the centuries-old Khmer culture and traditions.

“Nation’s glory is flying high and the kite masters from the region and from here are imbibing the spirit of togetherness.”

Edward Lee, Chief Executive Officer of Prince Real Estate Group, said the Bay of Lights project aims to bring sustainable benefits to the people of Cambodia.

He said the event is the first of many upcoming international events that will be held in Cambodia. “We hope to make this an annual festival in the years to come.”

There will also be performances from Cambodia’s world-famous art school and circus, Phare Ponleu Selpak, with their breathtaking acrobats interpreting the ‘Khmer Can Fly’ theme.
